Staff across all our schools work collaboratively to identify how our curriculum will meet the needs of our children and ensure positive and consistent development throughout the different Key Stages.
We believe it is important to plan the learning journey of the children from Year R to Year 6. The Infant school education helps teach students the skills and knowledge they will need to continue to develop at our Junior school. This is vitally important. As three schools, we have worked together to produce a joint intention of what we want the children to learn.
By the time children leave Year 2, they will have a firm understanding of how their body works and moves. They will be able to control movements through development of agility, balance and co-ordination within gymnastics, dance, games and swimming. They will get to experience a competitive environment in which they will develop social skills and gain an appreciation for a healthy lifestyle. This will help them in their journey to find their place in the world.
By the time children leave Year 6, they will be able to apply movements in isolation and combination to a range of physical activities. They will become competent in gymnastics and athletics through the development of a number of physical attributes. They will be introduced to various competitive game, understanding the unique rules and how to critique their own and peers’ performance in each sport. The above coupled with opportunities to experience outdoor activity will help them on their journey to find their place in the world.
