Staff across all our schools work collaboratively to identify how our curriculum will meet the needs of our children and ensure positive and consistent development throughout the different Key Stages.
We believe it is important to plan the learning journey of the children from Year R to Year 6. The Infant school education helps teach students the skills and knowledge they will need to continue to develop at our Junior school. This is vitally important. As three schools, we have worked together to produce a joint intention of what we want the children to learn.
By the time our children leave our school in Year 2, they will have experienced using tuned/untuned instruments including their voices expressively. All children will have listened with increasing concentration to a wide range of music and experiment with being creative with sound. They will be able to perform to a range of audiences e.g. to a class parents. Understanding how music is created as well as the emotions that music can evoke will help our children find their place in the world.
By the time our children leave our school in Year 6, they will have played and performed using musical instruments including their voices expressively with increased control. All children will have listened with concentration and understanding to improve memory. Children will improvise and compose music for a range of purposes using the different elements of music, developing a love for music past and present. Pupils will learn to use and understand musical notations. Enjoying the listening and creation of music will help our children find their place in the world.
